La Montecchia Golf Club was established by a syndicate of capable local businessmen in 1988 and is now approaching its 25th year of activity. Its Championship course, designed by the English architect Tom Macauley, has hosted the Challenge Tour in 2001 and 2002 and the Alps Tour in 2010.
Throughout the years the course has been changed and improved, whilst nature has played its part in enhancing its floral heritage.
Further to a recent change of management and the establishment of new owners, the club has been adapting its entire structure and systems in compliance with environmental regulations, high safety standards and energy efficiency requirements with special regard to water and electricity.
A complete renovation and conversion of the fairways to Bermudagrass have recently ensured optimal course conditions all year round.
The clubhouse served once as a tobacco drying room in the Count Emo Capodilista’s landed estate, which also includes a marvelous renaissance villa and an ancient castle. Since undergoing careful restoration work, the clubhouse has been providing members and guests with a variety of facilities and comforts, which are now more accessible as a result of a new bypass connecting the centre of Padua with the nearest motorway tollgates.
